NHS part I - the damage of ER & SCRUBS on the average doctor

the stretcher does not stretch far enough to come and get me...so i am walked towards it despite the concerns about my neck. they keep talking to me and telling me i am all right but we are going to drive to the hospital to get a security check. i can taste the blood in my mouth, i cannot feel the left part of my face, i can feel the gum stripped of a tooth...i am holding my right elbow.
he keeps asking me to rate the pain i am in...so i start giving out numbers...and at one point i even start thinking that he is actually writing them down just to go play the lotto.

truth number one: people that do wear helmets have far worse injuries - partly due to the feeling of being invincible, partly due to the fact that these helmet, lets be honest, are not designed very well in my personal opinion. however, i was not wearing one so i cannot say that it saved my life.

we finally arrive to the hospital (UCLH) where after a short waiting time which i do not recall, i am welcomed in resuscitation room 3 by DJ and his nurse [it's not a rap band and i was not allucinating]. DJ is wearing green trousers, a green v neck shirt and trainers - ER style, nurse is wearing a similar outfit only in lighter blue with marching shoes.
the dance begins. my nose stopped bleeding a while before...my mouth is still full of blood...i have lost a tooth. DJ looks inside my mouth and says "you lost a tooth, i cannot do anything about your mouth, you need to go to a dentist". [fair enough i think] then n asks him about my face, after all, it is swallen, it is bruised, it is numb, my nose was bleeding.
DJ says if i have injured something it is my elbow which is also bruised...and before sending me to the xray room for the right elbow xray, he quickly checks my back and my shoulder....
upon my return he says i have no broken bones in my elbow and there is no need to xray any other part of my body. he says i should go home and get a warm bath....

truth number two: never trust a doctor that reccommends warmth rather than cold on bruises and swallen parts of the body.

n asks DJ if he's going to do something about my face, the blood is now dry but all cool DJ does is hand her a cloth and water. [improvised nurse number two is so kind to help me wash the blood away before we are discharged without any report].

this episode did not exist. i was expecting will smith to blank out my memory with a small gadget.

unintentionally cycling into a car at 25 km/hr has proven that zygomatic bones and teeth do break under pressure.
my facial expression remained unchanged...but my thoughts about this country have taken a different shape.
